The search feature is designed to allow you to quickly find topics and posts that contain the keywords or phrases you enter.
To access the search feature, click the Search button near the top of most pages. To indicate what you're searching for, enter information as follows.
"Search For" Box
Enter the text you wish to search for. You can indicate that you wish to search for messages that contain all words that you enter, any of the words you enter, or the exact phrase that you enter.
Search words should be separated with a single space — not commas, semicolons, or other punctuation. However, in the case of a phrase, it will look for the exact format you enter, including punctuation.
Examples:
- To search for messages that include all of the words "lottery, cash, and prize" enter "lottery case prize" (without the quotes) in the Search For box, and select the "All Words" option.
- To search for messages that include any of the words "jackpot, prize, or annuity" enter "jackpot prize annuity" (without the quotes) in the Search For box, and select the "Any Words" option.
- To search for messages that include the exact phrase "Mega Millions" enter "Mega Millions" (without the quotes) in the Search For box, and select the "Phrase" option.
"Search In" Box
This indicates what part of the messages you would like to search for the text you entered. By selecting the appropriate option, you may search the following message sections:
- Topic Subject
- Message Body
- Both Topic Subject and Message Body
- Author
Examples:
- To search for any messages that contains the phrase "Mega Millions" in either the Topic Subject or the Message Body, enter "Mega Millions" (without the quotes) in the Search For box, select the "Phrase" option, and select the "Topic Subject & Message Body" option in the Search In box.
- To search for any messages posted by the Lottery Post member JoeUser, enter "JoeUser" (without the quotes) in the Search For box, and select the "Author" option in the Search In box.
"Search Forum" Box
The default behavior for the search feature is to search through all message forums for matching words or phrases. However, you can limit which forums to search in by changing the value in the Search Forum box.
For example, if you only wish to search the Pick 3 forum, select "Pick 3" in the Search Forum box.
"Sort Results By" Box
This setting determines how the search results will be displayed to you.
- Last Post Time - displays the search results in the order that the messages were posted, with the most recent message shown at the top.
- Topic Start Date - arranges the search results in the order that the first message of each matching topic thread was originally posted, with the most recent at the top. i.e., ignores the date and time of replies, and orders by the original post time.
- Subject Alphabetically - search results are displayed in alphabetical order of their subject title.
- Number of Views - displays the search results in the order of the number of times the topics were viewed, with the most number of views shown at the top.
